...And the loser of the year award goes to....ARSENAL!!!
assalamualaikum...
sad, gutted, dissapointed, shattered, devastated....
My pity goes to Dennis Bergkamp...I was actually want Arsenal to win this one FOR him, and never mind next year if we don't win again...It was his last season, and this was the one medal he craved all along in his 11 magnificant year with us...He was supposed to be subbed in the game as a perfect send off to the football world...I was sad he never got the appearance, as Arsene Wenger forced to bring on Jose Reyes, desperately to change the tie...it was too little, too late...But anyway, Bergkamp legendary status at Arsenal is already guaranteed, amongst with the likes of Ian Wright, Tony Adams, etc...he IS the legend and will always be the legendary Dutchmaster...It's he who made me a Gooner, back in 1998...oh, well...
Thierry was the UEFA Cup final loser in his first full season at Arsenal (99-00)...and he was again in this Champions League final in what could be his last season...I really want him to stay, but if he leaves, good luck and farewell to him...he will also had his name cemented alongside the Arsenal legends..although it would look weired and a little sense of betrayal if he goes to Barca,-the- winners...but no, my sense tells me that he'll stay, because he's still has a job undone, and he'll lead the youngsters in our new Emirates Stadium, next season...
Lastly, congrats to Barca, the 2006 European Champions...I would rather watch them win than any other teams (read:Chelsea,Real Madrid etc), if our team couldn't...In fact, Barca is also one of my supported team, second only the Gunners 8)...Mind you, I am with
them since 2000, during the Figo-Rivaldo-Kluivert era, not because of this match...I even had the 1899-1999 jersey (but I lend it to Najib), so it's not a bad thing after all,huhu...
But, in the end, I'm a Gooner, through and through....
sad, gutted, dissapointed, shattered, devastated....
5 minutes before the biggest game in the history of the Gunners end, i went to my bed, closed my eyes and thought nothing...as if i never even watched the game...but then again, it only took a brief before i felt normal again...
this is the game where one team will emerge as the winners, while the other one will be chewing sour grapes...i thought we were just unlucky to lose after leading 1-0, courtesy of Sol Campbell's header, for 55+minutes with only TEN men, after our heroic Riquelme-penalty-saver Jens Lehmann was been sent off..on that moment, the balance had changed heavily to the tournaments favorite, (what else?) Barcelona...as favorites, it was normal for the majority of the world stood and supported them, and for them to win the game was no-brainer at all...but, seeing our team, the young and less experience player on the pitch (most of them) matched the mighty Barcelona for most of the time is something to be proud of until now...not even the 2-times world player of the year, Ronaldinho could dazzle with his tricks in his repertoire...of course, in the near end, playing with less players taken its toll, fatigue took control, rain hampered some free-flowing movement, and with the fact that my all-time favorite player, Thierry Henry missed the cruical second goal that could kill the game off a couple of minutes early on, you could never ever written off Barca's chance...and Henrik Larsson was the man, played the part in both Etoo's and Belletti goal that condemned us for our trophyless season...
